RE: Selling an RV/payment

…Obviously there's some key information we're not being provided here.Maybe he’s selling all his possessions and taking all his money in cash and moving somewhere where he feels the economy is more to his liking. Not sure why his reasoning is important to anyone answering his query. Maybe he doesn’t want his wife to know. Maybe He knows something he doesn’t care to share. Yeah, perhaps a country where they don't treat citizens who use their own currency as criminals. The police surveillance state is disgusting.

RE: The buyers market

The economy remains incredibly overheated. Until we see a real economic slowdown, we won't see the major price corrections that are probably on the horizon. Right now, RV prices are the worst in history when you account for interest rates, which have shot the moon. And rates will be going up more. I have readjusted my thinking insofar as the truck camper I had been planning on purchasing new. After watching the msrp rocket almost 30% higher, I have no interest anymore. And I'm a cash buyer, so the rates don't matter. I tend to use things a long time after I purchase them. I bought my 5th wheel from the original owner in like new condition. I have used it for 10 years now, and it seems like it could go another 20 years with good maintenance. It is a well-built unit and I've had few problems other than the fridge. If there is a full-scale meltdown in RV prices, I'll probably buy a gently used one for pennies.

RE: $100,000 Host Campers

Well, consider that different folks are often at different stations in life - I prefer to see my house drop in value just to reduce future property tax increases - a rise in value goes me zero good whatsoever, but that’s just me :) 3 tons Inflation, while a monetary phenomenon, is not possible without people like you who pay the inflated prices, then try to justify it on forums like this. You are just as responsible as anybody for the outrageous prices. One is free to believe whatever they like, but you Sir are somewhat mistaken if you believe that inflation is some sort of ‘monetary phenomenon’… What confounds me (but sadly, to our country’s collective detriment…) is how least understood the fundamentals are which make up today’s financial and economic system - mostly because these fundamentals have not been taught!!… Truth is that (like it or not…), ‘phenomenon’ in this context confuses mere happenstance with a well planned methodology… However, trust that I do share in your deserved frustrations… 3 tons You might have been a little more convincing had you not failed to realize that the "monetary phenomenon" was a quote from Milton Friedman, a Nobel Prize winning economist. I suspect you're a little outside of your area of expertise.

You are just as responsible as anybody for the outrageous prices. He’s as responsible as anybody … as responsible as you. :D Seriously though, people are buying a lot of different 100K vehicles now and get paid a lot more than they used to. I think paying people more has more to do with inflation than the people who are buying new things. But hey, that’s just me. ;) You would be wrong. I haven't overpaid for any cars, RVs, houses boats or otherwise. The people who are running up the prices of those are the ones responsible. Wake up.

RE: $100,000 Host Campers

Seeing that price makes me feel like I stole my 42 foot Montana!! Well, consider that a million bucks $$ ain’t what it use to be, then consider the actual cause of the ongoing value dilution of the dollar :h, and (nowadays…) the very high unlikelihood that it’s depreciation can long term be slowed down… I accept that this is uber counter intuitive, but at some point it may occur to some folks to spend whatever is their ‘discretionary moola’ while it still holds substantial value - especially for those fixed income folks who don’t get COLA or pay raises!!…This points to a kinda inflection point the considers the continued depreciation of money, meaning, it’s NOT that commodity cost are going up, rather it’s that the ‘true value’ of the currency keeps going down…With this in mind, sometimes deferring known future purchases may be seen as something worth avoiding… 3 tons I am calling the bluff of people like you. The idea that blowing cash today on a depreciating asset like an RV is financially prudent and somehow protects one from inflation's wrath is laughable, especially considering how house prices are now crashing. If hard assets like real estate are crashing, just imagine what's going on with paper mache boxes like RVs. A friend decided to sell their gently used, less than 2 year old RV recently. The market is NOT what they had envisioned. The dealer they bought it from gave them a sobering quote of more than $20k less than they paid. Private party will likely be a better route - assuming there is a cash buyer or somebody qualified for a loan at the new, skyrocketing rates. No sale yet. Not even close.
